In Tarot, one shuffles a deck of cards and lays them out in a pattern called a “spread”. Each position addresses a different aspect of the problem and the card that lands in that position tells that aspect of the story. Some spreads are as simple as three cards that speak to the past, present and future.

The most popular spread, the Celtic Cross, has 10 positions which include topics like “what crosses you”, “your hopes and fears”, “your higher power”, “your blocks”, and “the final outcome.” The cards are rich with symbolic imagery that stimulates your intuitive right brain. Each card and position is a sub-plot in the full story. As you survey the spread, a story unfolds that reveals the nature of the situation you are in, what is most likely to happen and the best path forward.
